How do I change my notifications in Canvas?

Notifications in Canvas are set by the individual. Each Canvas feature has a separate notification setting, and students and instructors can choose to receive notifications for these features immediately, daily, weekly, or never.

 

Account Notifications

Canvas users can establish their notification preferences at the Account level; these preferences will be applied to all courses unless overridden by course-level settings. Use the following guides to set your Account-level notifications:

Canvas users can set or modify notifications for an individual course. To change course-level settings, follow these guides:

 

Send Notifications to an Additional Email or Phone Number

Notifications will send to the users’ Butler email address by default. Instructors and students have the option to add additional notification methods, like a secondary email or SMS phone number. The following Canvas guides walk through these options:
